Adoptions

For a complete guide to everything you need to know about guinea pigs please see Guinea Lynx.

You MUST fill out an application in order to be considered in our adoption process. References will be checked. A home visit may or may not be performed. To begin the adoption process, please email us. We email our application link to all those interested, you must request the link as keeping it online promotes spam.

We require all adopters to build or already have a C&C cage. It provides the most space for the least amount of money. You can find more information about it at their website at Guinea Pig Cages. They are very easy to build, cheaper than petstore cages and offer quite a bit more room for your new friend. If you are not the building type then you can purchase a cage kit from the rescue. Prices vary according to size; please see below for cage prices, options and accessories.

Because guinea pigs are social herd animals, we only adopt out our guinea pigs in pairs. If you are seeking a companion for a pig that you currently have, only a pig of the same sex or a spayed/neutered pig will be made available for you to adopt.

Adoption Fees

Our normal adoption fees are:

Babies under 10 weeks $25.00 each or $40.00 for a pair
Pigs over 10 weeks $20.00 each or $30.00 a pair

There are circumstances where these fees may be different than what is listed, you will be told if there is a different adoption fee.

Adoptions fees are non-refundable. If you are an adopter and can not come to the rescue within 48 hours of approval, you will be asked to pre-pay your adoption fee. This will hold the pigs for 7 days to allow you time to visit. After this time, if you haven't arranged to come visit us, the adoption will be cancelled and the pigs placed back up for adoption unless prior notice is given. For adopters who live more than 2 hours away, a transport may be sent up. If we do not have the right pet for you, please consider adopting from our neighboring rescue, All Creatures Rescue in Raleigh, NC.
